What once was a trade mark for hardcore punks only has now turned into a
trend for everyone! It's the Spikes & Studs that can be seen literally EVERYWHERE!
Read on to see how far this trend has already spread out!

Can you believe it?
To me spiked and studded things used to have a dangerous, aggressive vibe to them. Thus only the toughest of the tough ones could sport those. I remember spikes on clothes only in combination with hardcore rockers with their black leather jackets riding on their super loud bikes...
Well those times are long gone!
Nowadays spikes and studs are to be seen under a totally different light! Too tough? Too aggressive? - No more! Something for rockers and punks only? - It's for everyone!
By now you guys should have noticed how spiked and studded things started to appear everywhere.
Here I'm giving you some examples to illustrate what this trend is really about:
#1 - Spiked/studded shoulders

See that? This is what I call spiky shoulders! Of course this is one of the more extreme examples.
There are definitely more conservative spiked jackets out there. To turn it down even further I'd recommend to go for a studded jacket. Studs being a lot rounder and shorter than spikes will make the look overall softer. A spiked/studded jacket gives every outfit a modern and tough look.

Let's say you are the very girly-girl type. You like light/pastel colours and lace and ruching and love cute skirts and dresses? Sometimes too much cutesy style can look a little over the top. Add a light blue studded denim jacket and you've toughened your look up just enough to make you look not only super cute but also super cool!
A hugely popular item is indeed the spiked/studded denim jacket. Denim jackets have come back in trend a while ago now but the spikes/studs are what brings new life to your everyday average denim jacket. Usually spiked/studded jackets are on the pricier side. BUT there is a solution to that (if you're into Do-It-Yourself stuff). There are tons of tutorials out there which instruct you on how to spike up your own jacket.
Speaking of spiked denim: You can't forget to mention spiked/studded denim shorts. They were hugely popular during summer. Styling-wise they basically work the same way as spiked/studded jackets. You could just throw them on with a white T-Shirt and you were good to go!

Here's another look: If you are more of the sophisticated, independent type. Then I recommend a studded/spiked blazer! A blazer looks very chic, mature and elegant on its own. Sometimes a little bit too conservative and rigid. Now add the spikes and say bye-bye to your average blazer! The spikes add a rebellious vibe to a very traditional, basic piece of clothing. If you want to stand out in a crowd of monotone suit-wearers, then pimp up your blazer with some spikes! (Unless you are a strict business woman/man who should be following the traditional dress code... :P)

Extraordinary and super fancy! That is all I have to say about them!
Spiked heels are definitely eye-catching and a huge statement piece on their own. Which is why not just everyone can rock them. If you intend to flaunt some spikes/studs on your feet but you don't want to start off that extreme, then I'd say you could go find yourself some studded flats. Of course those won't look as daring as a pair of spiked heels, but at least they are way more comfortable to walk in!
Another thing about spiky heels: These babies cost you quite a lot. The spikier the pricier!
#3 - Spiked accessory

I like to go by the saying: It is the little details that make an outfit outstanding!
And to achieve that, spiked/studded accessories are just perfect!
For instance, it can be something as simple as a studded collar that peeps out of your everyday sweater. By adding a spiked collar (shirt) underneath your average pullover you'll instantly give yourself a fresh pop of style!

For all you arm-candy lovers: How about some spiky bracelets? Try to stack on a spiked bracelet for a unique touch of toughness! BUT: I recommend you to stick with bracelets that have either short spikes or only a few decent spikes on them. Otherwise you'd go back to the very beginning of the topic: the hardcore rocker style. Which is what we try to avoid...

If you prefer necklaces over bracelets, then you won't be coming short either. This vintage-style spiked necklace, for example, looks great even on a plain white T-Shirt.

Okaaay, we are getting a little more creative! I told you that those spikes and studs are everyyywheeere! No exception with your phone case! This is definitely not everyone's taste but it surely looks unique, doesn't it?
Well then, I have shown you quite a few examples now. Spiked & studs are definitely a huge trend right now. So if you're looking for something excited and fresh to pimp up your style - then spikes & studs are THE thing to go for!
