[Fashion Alert] Burgundy - This Fall's Trend Colour!

Dance Crew BlaXtreme dressed in Burgundy items
It is this fall season's trend colour and you can't help but loooooove it! Fall is all about BURGUNDY!

~ Mary ~

Call it bordeaux, wine-red or burgundy - it's a dark, deep, red shade which can either have a brownish or a raspberry/plumish undertone to it. But we're not here to discuss how to properly name the colour. Fact is that it's a huge trend this fall/winter

It's a colour that practically suits everyone: boys and girls, old and young, light skin complexion and darker complexions, light hair and dark hair...Burgundy is a colour that just screams "Fall" no matter who's wearing it.

Still not convinced and still haven't tried it out yet? Well, then it's about time to do so! Here are some of my "Dress in Burgundy!" recommendations from shops I usually drop by that might inspire you to give your wardrobe a fall-appropriate treat:

burgundy/raspberry tank top with lace accents from H&M
This is the best choice if you're not sure how to bring the colour into an outfit: A tank top is the most basic ever piece of clothing that one can own which makes it veeeeery easy to pair it with other items. You could just through on a cardigan (I recommend to stick with neutral colours like white, beige, grey or black) for extra warmth and wear a pair of jeans underneath and you already have the perfect casual outfit to go into fall season!

burgundy/raspberry waxed-style pants from Zara
If you want to bring that colour to the bottom these pair of pants are a great choice. Not only do we have the desired trend colour going on here, we also have that matte waxed finish which is getting quite popular these days. As for pairings same princible applies: Stick with neutral, basic colours for the top and outerwear. Jewelry/accessory-wise, by the way, both gold and silver go very well with this colour. Another good reason to love burgundy!

burgundy blazer from Only/Peek&Cloppenburg
Now for all my sophisticated ladies out there, this is your item: a blazer in a deep red/burgundy shade. Not only does the blazer on its own make you look like an elegant business woman, the colour burgundy adds an extra touch of sophistication to your ensemble.

burgundy ankle boots from Tamaris
You don't want to only bring burgundy into your closet but also into your shoe collection? Well then those booties yours! They are definitely eye-catching. You could pair these with a simple pair of jeans and look all casual but polished or a black leather pencil skirt and look all classy and elegant.

Basically I have just given you a whole set of clothes that COULD be worn as one outfit. However one should not overdo the trend. Wearing an all-burgundy outfit would be too exaggerated. Instead I think you should focus on one burgundy item per outfit.

And of course I don't want to neglect all the gentlemen out there. So here are some recommendations for a male wardrobe:

burgundy pullover from H&M
Every guy can sport a hoody! And now every guy can sport a hoody in burgundy to look fall-ready! Hoodies are naturally very casual. However this dark colour gives your everyday hoody a more classy vibe. Also this hoody in particular has that loose turtle-neck collar. A unique touch that gives you extra warmth!

burgundy patterned button-up shirt from Zara
Worn as a button-up shirt the colour gives you a mature, masculine look. Thus making a fashion-conscious gentleman out of you. Who knows, if you can sport this shirt a lot of women out there could immediately fall for you.

burgundy infinity scarf and washed-out style pants from Esprit
If you want to wear the colour as accessory or as a bottom. Here is an inspirational recommendation for you. Who says that men can't wear coloured pants?! As long as they have the right fit they can make you look super masculine and sexy at the same time. Mind that they should NOT fit you like a glove. Coloured super skinny pants will look way too feminine.
With a scarf in burgundy you can never go wrong!
burgundy sneakers from Converse
Burgundy sneakers are definitely a unisex item. I bet all of you have your favourite pair of sneakers. Go for a pair of burgundy ones and you've got yourself a trendy everyday fashion item!

Honestly if you look around, you'll notice that everything seems to be available in burgundy shades. I've only mentioned clothing items so far, but burgundy is also represented in other sectors.
For instance beauty/makeup products have also added burgundy to their colour palette.
Be it burgundy lip colours, nail polishes, eye shadows...you name it -
So be creative and try to bring some of that fall trend colour into your style!
