This year we have quite a lot colour trends going on! And for this season expecially, THIS particular trend can't be missed: The Jewel Tones.
"Diamonds are a girl's best friend"
- no longer!
Everyone's best friends are now:
Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald!
Read on to see how these luxurious jewels are turned into trend items!
~ Mary ~
To start off, you guys should be recognizing a good old friend of ours among the 3 jewels...well?
Yes - it's the ruby!
Earlier I introdced the "Burgundy Trend" in one of my posts.
Burgundy (apparently also referred to as oxblood, wine red, bordeaux) is definitely in the same colour family as ruby red. They all bear that same dark, vampy redish tone, no matter how many variations exist out there.
But by now we should also take into account that ruby/burgundy is not the sole autumn/winter trend colour! Now it's all about jewel tones in general!
Let me show you some inspirational examples!
(The following items can all be found at Zara. Right now Zara is realy all about dark toned collections which is why you'll be able to dig into this trend to your heart's content. Other than that I personally really love Zara ;)
SAPPHIRE BLUE

A very basic example. You can never go wrong with a pair of skinny jeans, right?
Although blue jeans are the most common thing out there, in this particular case you should look for a pair of true blue pants without the typical jeans material look in order to really bring out the blue colour.
Pair them with a basic blouse or a cozy pullover in neutral tones.
With a basic pair of skinnies the combination possibilities are endless!

Let's say you're sick of solid-coloured pants. Then go for printed ones! Moreover for leopard printed ones!
These pants really spice up every outfit as they are a huge statement piece on their own. Thus you should keep the rest of your outfit rather simply and toned down in order to keep the focus on these fancy pants!

You're not the "pants-type" but more the "feminine-dress-type"? Then how about this jacquard dress?
This is a very fancy piece that works well for every formal event. Since the cut is so simply it's the colour, the print and the material that give this dress it's litlle something!
I think that the blue shade really brings a royal, luxurious vibe to this piece. If you were to have a nice silver sapphire necklace to put on with this dress - that'd be perfect!
For all of you guys who prefer the casual, laid-back style over the fancy and elegant: It's all about the basics!
This shirt follows the same theme as your basic denim shirt, but again we don't necessarily need to actually incorporate the denim material. A dark blue shirt will instantly give you that boyish, relaxed vibe, since this shade is meant to look more masculine.

What would an outfit be without the shoes?!
Let's say you have an all-black outfit and you want to add a pop of colour to your sophisticated ensemble. These strapped blue pumps would be a nice choice!
With these pair of pumps you get 2 trends in 1: The sapphire blue shade and the strapped pump.
EMERALD GREEN

Honestly I have never been into coloured pants in the past. I just never thought that they looked flattering on me (except for blue pants, since they'd look similar to ordinary jeans...). BUT I've changed my mind! When it comes to jewel tones, I'm totally in it!
If you felt the same up until now, then I can only suggest you to overcome your hate-relationship with coloured pants right now!
Jewel toned pants are not as loud and bold as bright coloured pants. Thus they are much easier to wear and suit much more people.
Here we have a teal coloured pair of skinnies.
I know there are many who don't like the colour green in their wardrobe. Teal has more of a blue undertone which is why it's a great alternative to true greens.
And again these skinnies will give you loads of pairing possibilities!
Green printed cashmere pants.
There's a lot going on on these pants, right?
Maybe too much for some of you.
However the key lies in the rest of your outfit. All you need to do to make these statement pants wearable is to pair them with neutral (solid) coloured items.

Moving on to the tops.
I simply looove this lace peplum top.
This green shade in particular reminds me of Christmas trees which again brings sort of a festive vibe into the outfit. In the picture this top is very well paired with a black tank top and a pair of black pants.
The lace pattern and the peplum cut make this top look very feminine. The black coloured items do a great job in toughening up this outfit.
Dark teal pencil skirt with asymmetrical ruffle/peplum detail.
This item is definitely made for all the sophisticated, ellegant business woman among you. You could also wear this to a glamourous Christmas dinner with family and friends.
Something that's really great about this skirt: The peplum hides your tummy-area. This'll allow you to dig into the delicious Christmas buffet without worrying about your expanding tummy! ;)
FOR ALL THE GENTLEMEN OUT THERE

Every sophisticated woman needs a gentlemen by her side, right? ;)
And in my opinion there's no clothing item that expresses the word "gentleman" better than a BLAZER!
But instead of the basic black, grey and brown blazer, try out jewel toned blazers!
For instance, a teal coloured one.
Notice how this blazer instantly adds a fresh touch to the outfit?
Of course a dark blue blazer works equally well!
I really think that these blazers look a lot more fashionable and youthful without going over the top and losing the elegant feel!
Of course there are a looooooot more great examples for the jewel tone themed trend in this season.
I hope that I could inspire you to go out there and flaunt your very own jewel toned fashion!
