This time you guys get to learn about my personal style preferences when it comes to men's winter fashion
I will be picking out some demonstrative pictures and explain to you the Do's and Dont's for a guy's outfit, especially during this current winter season 2012/2013.

Are you curious about my ideal style types? And guys, do you want to know what a girl likes to see on you? ;)

1) THE CASUAL

It's all about the colour black!
In my opinion black looks hot on everyone and on guys it looks especially manly. I really like the black parka with that faux-fur hoody trim. Not only does it seem to be extra warm but it also gives the whole outfit a very casual and cool vibe
The cut of the parka is crucial: The parka SHOULDN'T look too fitted on guys. That's a look for girls to pull off! Also the parka SHOULDN'T be too cinched in at the waist. This again would look too feminine.
The beanie adds an ultimate finishing touch. I don't know if it's just me, but I really like how beanies look on guys! ;)
Even though this look is really easy to achieve, since it basically consists of a black pair of jeans, a black pullover and a black scarf it still looks very well put together because of the solid black colour

2) THE SPORTIVE

A vest really showcases the sportive side of a guy. If you have that muscular build you should definitely show it off, right? ;)
Since a vest exposes the arms layering severel clothing items underneath is recommended in order to keep warm. A plaid button-up shirt and a cardigan underneath the vest look really refined and chic. To top it all off wrap yourself up with a huuuuge cozy scarf.
As for the vest: DONT go with one that's shorter than hip-length. You don't wanna look like you're wearing your little brothers clothes!

3) THE SOPHISTICATED

Finally my favourite style! If you are rocking this style, then you get a huge thumbs up from me! ;)
A coat really brings out the gentleman in a guy's outfit. Paired with a polished outfit underneath - let's say a dark pair of paints and a turtleneck pullover or even a suit - a nice coat wearing guy looks hot no matter how cold the weather!
However out of all the winter outerwears I think that a coat is the most difficult to sport. In my point of view not many actually look good in a long coat. For instance longer coats only suit guys with a decent height and relatively long legs. A long coat will make shorter guys look even shorter which is not at all attractive, I think. Furthermore coats only suit guys with broad shoulders
If you bring that kind of build with you then here is what you should look for in a good coat: Coats with big flannels and a few large buttons, of course, in a dark shade like black, dark grey, dark brown. A simply design that has a huge style factor. If you're feeling a little more fancy and confident you can look for coats that have silver/gold buttons, flannels with different materials like leather, fur etc. or a unique type of collar.
Attention: A long coat can make you look like you're in your 40's also you might be a student in your 20's. That can happen if your whole outfit looks very old-fashioned. To avoid that incorporate youthful accessories! For example: Wear the trend lace-up boots (see separate article about those for more details) to give your outfit that rebel touch. Or sport a beanie to tone down the elegant look of the coat.

Either way, gentlemen, DON'T reach out for styles that don't suit you and be careful in selecting the right cut and length when it comes to your winter outerwear!
