In Part V of my Spring Trends Series, I'd like to discuss with you an unexpected colour theme.
Normally we associate spring/summer with colours, right? Be it now light and soft or bold and saturated colours...
HOWEVER this time around we overthrow this image and make way for the classic combo BLACK/WHITE IN SPRING/SUMMER!
Read on to join the debate!

Taking that it's safe to assume that everyone thinks of colours and brightness during the spring/summer season, it is a given that we question and doubt the fact that black/white fit into our spring/summer wardrobe.
Pastel and neon clothing items are making their way into our shopping bags as the weather is getting warmer again. We want to express the warm and lively spirit of the season via our clothes.
Now people are telling us that black & white is a huge trend this season?!
HOLD ON!! That doesn't fit into our vision! Especially BLACK!
BLACK IN SUMMER?!?! NO!!!
...is what some among us must have thought when hearing that Black/white is IN THIS SEASON!
And we see evidence of that everywhere. The black/white theme has been combined with this season's trends (see last few posts).
We have for instance the black/white stripes trend... |
...or the black/white crosses trend |
BUT how is this POSSIBLE! I mean, black is a colour known for its function to trap light and keep warm. And who the hell would want to stay warm when temperatures are rising during the upcoming spring/summer season?! To dress in black would be insane, or not?
The answer to rocking this trend are the MATERIALS.
This season people swear by super light, see-through material, lace and cut-outs.
By using these very airy and thin materials it allows us to not die of overheating during the warmer seasons even though we're wearing black clothes.
Black/white are THE classic combo. Never goes out of trend, timelessly chic and suitable for all sexes, ages and style preferences. Keeping that in mind, it's only natural to think that black/white should be worn throughout the year.
I personally totally ship this trend. I am a huge sucker for black anyways. (Hence it's my favourite colour ;) And the light, thin materials really make this trend wearable.
What is your take on this unexpected trend?
