[Fashion Alert] Spring Trends 2013 Part I - PRINTS

Guys, I'm feeling soooo overwhelmed when looking at the variety of prints that will be dominating this spring's fashion! (This makes it even more difficult for me to get back into the flow of posting again...soooo many exciting topics and I don't even know where to start! XD)

I don't know if it's just me, but I get the impression that this season is overpacked with print trends!

Read on after the jump to see what this is all about!

You don't have to look for them. Once you enter a clothing store they're all in your face!
Galaxy, Ombre, Tie-dye, Acid wash, Floral, Stripes...
Bold statement prints are in style this spring! Let me introduce you to the most popular prints one by one:

GALAXY PRINTS

The galaxy has always been something impressive, fascinating and inspiring. Bringing galaxy themed prints into our wardrobe is definitely a statement. These star nebula, milky way and meteor shower inspired prints, usually held in blues, purples, pinks and black, are often seen on leggings, t-shirts and blouses and are best paired with more toned-down and single coloured pieces. That way you really make your ensemble shine!

The galaxy print is definitely more on the bolder and edgy side. Thus it might not be everyone's taste. And still for sure this print is a nice eye-catcher if incorporated in an outfit. I'd say: If you feel like challenging your fashion and style horizons all the way into the universe, then galaxy prints are your case!

FLORAL PRINTS

I feel like spring would not be spring without floral elements. That is evidentally because one associates the spring season with blooming nature. Which is why, again, floral prints will be in style.
I noticed that white jeans with soft pink flowers are especially popular. Although, sadly, you will have to note that light pants don't suit every body shape - frankly said, they do not flatter short-legged, curvy builds.

These leggings however, with black as the base colour, are perfect for pretty much every girl.

For all of you who don't like coloured flowers: Try to find floral printed items that are held in grey, white and black tones. This will give off a more vintage feeling which again makes your outfit look less youthful and more elegant.
Overall floral prints are the pick for all my girly girls and ladies out there!

ACID WASH/TIE-DYE

Through acid wash achieved patterns are usually seen on jeans. Basically how the prints are created is by partly bleaching out the colour of the jeans with the help of acid/bleaching fluids. What we get are edgy jeans with a loud print.

A similar print is achieved by tie-dyeing. Here you get the unique prints by basically tyeing up a piece of (wet) fabric at various spots before actually dyeing it. That way the dye won't spread evenly across the fabric. Tie-dying leaves you with a fun, abstract pattern that brings life and movement into your outfit.

Both prints are rather loud, bold and daring. If you are someone who likes the standing-out type of style, then these prints are a must for you! Styling Tip: A pair of acid-washed jeans, a graphic tee in a neutral colour shade and a leather jacket. Simple but definitely out there!

OMBRE

Here we have something less bold. The transitioning effect of ombre prints is softer than the previous prints I showed you. If you want to bring some fresh, lively colours into your wardrobe but prefer to stay away from daring prints, then try out ombre pieces!

Ombre is mostly seen on pullovers and sweatshirts, where they are easier to rock. But ombre printed pants - why not? ;)

The key to pairing all these prints is to make them the focus of your outfit. Choose one print. Bring it into one item (I strongly recommend to stay away from incorporating all the prints into one ensemble. You'll end up looking like a tropical mess!!). And keep the rest understated. Like that all your outfits will be fool-proof and you'll be ready to stylishly head into the spring 2013!
Which print if your favourite?
